Melbourne CBD Driving — What You Need to Know

Driving in Melbourne CBD is genuinely more complex than suburban driving. Our CBD driving lessons cover:

• Hook turns — Melbourne’s unique right-turn rule at intersections marked with hook turn signs. Many learners from overseas find this confusing at first.
• Tram tracks — how to overtake trams safely, when to stop for trams, and how to navigate tram stops
• Clearway rules — CBD clearways operate during peak hours and towing is immediate
• One-way streets — Melbourne CBD grid has multiple one-way streets requiring careful navigation
• Bicycle lanes — CBD has extensive bicycle infrastructure requiring awareness and give way
