We prepare students at all four Melbourne VicRoads test centres. Click a centre below to see its location, then read our most common pass-day questions.
The vast majority of our students pass on their first attempt. We prepare every student on the actual VicRoads test routes used at Carlton, Bundoora, Coolaroo and Sunbury โ so by test day, nothing is unfamiliar. Our mock test sessions replicate the exact conditions of a real assessment.
That depends on your suburb. Most inner north students test at Carlton (459 Lygon St). Northern suburbs students typically test at Bundoora (976 Plenty Rd) or Coolaroo (Pearcedale Parade). Sunbury students test locally. We match your preparation lessons to the exact test centre you'll use.
Yes! Test day car hire is available from $150. We also offer warm-up lesson + test packages from $220 (1 lesson + test car) up to $790 (10 lessons + test car). Using our dual-control automatic vehicle means no surprises โ you'll already know the car perfectly by test day.
The VicRoads practical test is approximately 20โ30 minutes of actual driving plus time for the pre-drive check and debrief. The examiner will assess your ability to control the vehicle safely, follow road rules, and respond correctly to traffic conditions on real Melbourne roads.
Arrive at the test centre 10โ15 minutes early with your learner permit, log book (if required), and glasses if you wear them. The examiner will do a pre-drive safety check, then take you on a 20โ30 minute drive covering the standard test route. Your Freshers instructor can accompany you to the centre but must wait outside during the test.
The most common failure reasons at Melbourne test centres are: not giving way correctly at roundabouts, rolling through stop signs, incorrect head checks before lane changes, speeding in school zones, and poor positioning during turns. We specifically drill all of these in our pre-test preparation lessons.
You can rebook as soon as you're ready โ there's no mandatory waiting period. Most students who fail need just 1โ3 extra lessons targeting the specific areas noted by the examiner. We review the debrief with you and build a focused plan to ensure you pass on the next attempt.
It depends on your country. Most overseas licence holders who have held their licence for less than 3 years must sit the practical test. Those from certain countries (e.g. UK, USA, Canada, NZ) may be exempt from the hazard perception test but still need the practical drive. We assess your situation in the first lesson and plan accordingly.
Carlton and Bundoora test centres can book out 4โ8 weeks in advance, especially on weekends. We recommend booking your test slot on the VicRoads website as soon as you feel you're 3โ4 weeks away from being ready โ then use those remaining lessons for final preparation and mock tests.
Still have questions? We reply 7 days a week.
